For this weekend, we decided to take part in an excursion, visiting the island of Aran and the cliffs of Moher.

We made this excursion thanks to TripAdvisor.

The visit begins with a pick-up in Galway. We boarded the bus for the day. We drove and discovered the Wild Atlantic Way, Clarenbridge, Kilcolgan, Ballindereen, Kinvara and Ballyvaughan while the guide told stories about the history of the region.

We then arrived in Doolin and took a ferry to the Aran Islands.

The Aran Islands form an archipelago of Ireland located 18 kilometres off the west coast of the country, at the exit of Galway Bay. From west to east we find: Inis Mor (large island) which is the largest of these islands with its 14 km long by 3 km wide, Inis Meain (medium island) is the middle one and Inis Oiir (also Inis Thiar, east island) is the smallest.

The ferry stops at Inis Oiir. We had some free time to explore and then we ate at a local restaurant for lunch. It's a beautiful island. There are more than 260 inhabitants on the island. The inhabitants live mainly in the centre of the island. There are 3 Irish pubs, a souvenir shop, a hotel and a grocery store. A youth hostel and a campsite on a beautiful beach are also available for us, the tourists.

Then, on the ferry back, we were able to admire the magnificent panorama of Moher's cliffs from the boat. Back on earth, we were able to follow the guide to the top of the Moher cliffs to enjoy even more views from the top. It is a major tourist attraction in Ireland, it is the most visited natural site in the country. The cliffs fascinate by their beauty and breathtaking slopes. The rock is dark black in colour, deeply marked by the erosion of the sea. A little further away, if the sky is clear, you can see the islands of Aran and Connemara. It was breathtaking.

Our visit ended with a return to Galway at the end of the day. This excursion cost us 50 euros per person, but we do not regret it at all. It's amazing !
